Ever heard of "Life Hacks"? They're clever ways to go about life that most people wouldn't think about. Here are some "pipette hacks", clever things to do to make your pipetting experience in the lab better!

  1. Use a paperclip or needle to clear a clogged tip - If your pipette tip gets clogged, try using a paperclip or a needle to clear it. Gently insert the paperclip or needle into the tip to remove any debris that might be blocking it.
  2. Use a binder clip to hold the pipette - If you need to keep your pipette within reach but don't have a holder available, try using a binder clip. Attach the binder clip to the edge of your bench or a shelf and use the clip to hold your pipette.
  3. Use colored tape to identify different pipettes - If you have multiple pipettes of the same type, it can be difficult to keep track of which one is which. Use different colors of tape to mark each pipette, so you can quickly identify them and avoid confusion.
  4. Use a bead to prevent cross-contamination - If you're pipetting multiple solutions and want to prevent cross-contamination, try placing a small bead at the bottom of each well. The bead will act as a physical barrier and prevent any liquid from transferring between wells.
  5. Use a pipette tip rack to hold your pipette - If you don't have a pipette holder, try using a pipette tip rack instead. Simply insert the tip of your pipette into one of the holes in the rack, and it will hold the pipette upright.

Remember, it's always important to follow proper pipetting techniques and guidelines to ensure accurate and reliable results in the lab!
